My Day Skincare Routine!

I think this is my most requested post, but I have never done it neither on my youtube nor on beautyjunkie. I finally decided I should put this post up since a lot of you guys are so interested! I hope this helps satisfy all of you who are curious or if you are on the look for good products then look no further!

The two things that I always get compliments on are my eyes & lashes and my skin. For the most part I don’t use foundation but if I do I use very light water based foundation.

Just a brief write up on my skin type, skin conditions, skin concerns, skin background etc I feel so self centered while typing this. LOL! Anyhoooos. I have pretty much normal skin, when I say normal I mean I don’t get dry at all, however I do get a tad oily sometimes on my T-zone but to me it’s not major enough for me to classify it as combination/oily. So I usually go for normal skin type stuff or if they do not have I’ll go for combination/oily skin. It has been pretty hot so I do get oiler on my T-zone now.

I must say that I am pretty blessed with good genes, my mom has amazing skin for her age & she always gets complimented on her skin. Needless to say she is pretty religious with her skin regime and that is something she has imparted to me from a very tender age. Especially now when pollution is everywhere and the weather is so temperamental it is even more important we do our part in taking care of our skin.

Just a short skincare story if I could call it that, I have been using skincare religiously since I was in secondary school, there about. I think I started with clean & clear foaming cleanser + L’oreal hydra (not sure what it is called now) range moisturizer. I used that for a pretty short time before mom got me my first Clarins product, when hydraquench just launched when I was 17+. Ever since then I have been using Clarins, it has been 6 years and I must say I love their products. All their products are very natural and are made of plants/herbs etc. Recently I have been wanting to make the switch, being a beauty blogger I really want to try out new stuff hence got some Chanel products which I will tell you more about later.

Another thing you will realize is I use mainly european brands. I am really not an asian skincare person (I know it’s weird since I’m asian). I have been using Clarins which is a european brand since 17 and I just feel like the texture, feeling and scent for european varies a lot from asian and I just happen to prefer/am more used to european skincare :)

Before I start rolling the pictures, I  am by no means saying this is the perfect skin care. Everyone’s skin is different and everyone has different likes. Also if I were to tell you I use skin care 365 days a year, I would be lying. As much as I try to do the best I can to upkeep my routine there are a few rare nights where I am way too tired and skip skincare all together BUT I must say that no matter how tired I am, I will remove my makeup before sleeping.

My morning routine :

(L to R) Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser with Peach, Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection, Lancôme Génifique, Chanel Hydra Beauty Sérum, Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème & Lancôme Génifique Eye Cream.

I know it looks like a lot of products but trust me, I get it done in less than a minute :)

If you use Clarins you would know that water comfort in peach is meant for oily skin (I think) but I love the smell so I use it and it’s not too hydrating for my skin so I feel perfectly fine using it :)

Clarins UV Plus HP has been a staple since I was 18! Mom always tell us how important it is to use sunblock! I’ve actually used L’oreal’s sunblock prior to this however I feel it’s a tad oily. Clarins sunblock is slightly brightening and it is not thick at all and just makes a good sunblock + it has anti-pollution which is something which Clarins has in some of their products to further protect your skin.

This comes in clear or tinted and mine is obviously the tinted one, I do prefer the clear but the SA gave me the wrong one and it really doesn’t make a big difference at all. It is also oil free so you won’t have to worry if you have oily skin!

Honestly I could go on & on about Clarins, just because I have used it for so long. I can almost tell you what every single product they have does. LOL #obsessed  But I shall not bore you guys.

Lancôme Génifique was one of those products which took me a long time to convince myself & mom that I needed it. Since it seem to be targeted at older skin, or so I thought. This is only my 2nd bottle got my first bottle 2 years ago and I think this is amazing!!! It really helps to brighten the skin and make it look more radiant plus it works on both young skin (mine) and more mature skin (mom’s). Our skin just loves it!

I got the eye cream because honestly my biggest issue is my eye, when I was younger I was OCD about having to rub it every night & now I am the outcome of my rubbing, FINE LINES! >:(  I feel like it does help a tad bit, of course I am not expecting miracles but my fine line :( do seem to smoothen out when I use this religiously.

So this is my new skincare switch, like I said being a beauty blogger I was to try everything and anything. I was super keen on trying Chanel skincare having heard 1 or 2 reviews + I love the smell. HOWEVER after purchasing it and using it for the first time, I could smell the alcohol. Having used Clarins which is very very natural + no alcohol (95% of their products) this disturbed me a tad bit. Hence if you ask if I am going to purchase this again, probably not just because I don’t like the alcohol in it. Sounds like something very silly but I don’t really like having alcohol in my skincare and it can also irritate your skin.

If you are wondering what serum I was using previously, it was the Clarins hydraquench serum + cream melt, which I have a back up off now just in case I need to switch back.

The creme feels thick and nice, just how I like my moisturizers to feel! :)

Chanel serum which is very light weight and absorbs into your skin very well too!

In case you’re wondering which order I use my products in:

1. Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser with Peach
2. Lancôme Génifique
3. Chanel Hydra Beauty Sérum
4. Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème
5. Lancôme Génifique Eye Cream
6. Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection

I know I am ending it kinda abruptly, I wanted to do my Day + Night routine in a post but I talk way too much & this is getting too long. I can go on & on about skincare, if you don’t believe ask my friends in real life. LOL! If they ask 1 question, I can tell them A-Z about it. LOL!  Okay I should stop now any longer I would have to invite you guys to grab some popcorn before reading my blog. LOL!

Gonna end it here but I’ll have my night routine + makeup removal in the next post *pinky promise*. If you have any question you can leave comments on this post, tweet me OR formspring me – I made it some time ago but never used it!

  2. Indeed, it’s sad about the alcohol, the cream looks so lush and moisturizing (which it probably is). Though, like you, I don’t like alcohol in my skincare. While I try to ignore if I love the product, I try to go without.
