So I know that I rave non-stop about Clarins and I go on & on about how I always use all the products for my routine. However I have been trying some new products not so recently.
Just a quick rundown on my skin type, I have normal/combi skin. I do get slightly oily on the T-zone but nothing overly major. As for skin concerns, I really don’t have a whole lot of issues with my skin. Mainly lines under my eyes (HUGE issue) & blackheads/whiteheads.
In this post I will give you guys a rundown + review of my current day time routine.
In case you’re wondering why I chose Lancôme. I’ve had good experience with Génifique and have personally used it prior this. When Lancome first introduced Génifique my mom got the product and she loved it. After a few months, I decided to jump on the bandwagon, I remember at that time everyone on youtube was raving about it. I tried and I loved it.
Since the launch of Visionnaire, I was so curious as to how it would work together. Last year I bought the trio which consist of the toner, serum & day moisturizer from DFS & am glad to be finally using!
So first up I use the Pre-Correcting Advance Lotion which in my humble opinion is just a toner with a fancy mancy name. lol! I know a lot of people skip over toner, because it seems like a hassle and an extra step. However I beg to differ, to me it is a very important step in my skincare routine.
Firstly, the toner helps to moisten the skin so that whatever products you are applying after that can get absorbed much better. Secondly, I do find that toners help to remove excess dirt/oil or even the excess traces of makeup if removal was not properly. So I do recommend using a toner as I do feel it preps my skin to soak up all the good subsequent ingredients.
I am not a huge fan of the scent, but I definitely do not dislike it too. To be honest I think it has kinda grown on me and I don’t even really notice the scent any more! I do feel like my pores around my nose area has been slightly refined.
After I’ve toned my face, I apply Génifique which is a youth activating concentrate. Génifique is actually a rather intriguing product, I remember when it first launch there was alot of buzz around it and people were speculating what does this product function as.
Génifique is a pre-serum (if I may use that term loosely), as it helps to revive and stimulate the product of your youth proteins, hence promoting cell renewal. This will result in your skin’s texture is dramatically refined feeling velvety and cushiony soft.
Lancôme does pride in that you will see results of smoother, softer and visibly more radiant skin in 7 days. Did I really see the changes in 7 days? Honestly, no. However I must say that by the end of 1 small bottle, my skin was significantly more radiant and this was prior to me using the whole Lancôme range, so it will work well even when it is paired with another brand’s serum; which in my case was Clarins Hydraquench.
It just looks clear and is not sticky at all. It feels very light weight and absorbs so quickly into the skin. I do have to stress that you have to pair it with a serum to reap the maximum benefits.
The next step would be the serum, I paired Génifique with it’s ‘match’. Visionnaire and Génifique are termed as the super serums in Lancôme’s skin care range. I can really attest to how these 2 products really just complement each other & work so beautifully together!
Visionnaire is a serum which targets skin corrector, to visibly reduce wrinkles, pores an uneven skin tone.
To be very honest I was getting ‘sick’ of using my Génifique, I had previously bought a super jumbo airport exclusive bottle which was never ending to me. I decided to get my trio out & try the ‘super serums’ and see how well they worked for me. When I started using them for about 2 weeks, I really didn’t like it a lot. I mean I felt it worked well, not superb & I really didn’t get all the hype surrounding the 2 products. Not wanting to waste I just continued using it as per normal, once a day. I think it was about the mid of my 2nd month, so about 5-6 weeks when I started to notice that my skin texture especially around my nose is slightly more refined and my skin was looking brighter too!
I think it is also due to the fact that I’m soooo used to using Clarins and everything about it that changing to another brand was quite a feat as I missed using Clarins (the scent & all).
The texture of the serum is very light weight and it feels nice & smooth on the skin, I usually use 1 pump for the day and if I use it during the night I do go up to 2 pumps. As per most Lancôme products scent, I don’t fancy the scent but it will gradually grow on you till you don’t really notice the scent any longer.
The day moisturizer is just a very very light lotion, which is nice for the day time so I won’t look greasy. However if you have dry or more mature skin I do recommend you look into their correcting polishing cream, I think that it has a thicker texture (don’t quote me on this! I’ve personally not tried it!).
Finally in this post would be the Génifique Yeux I had previously used the Génifique eye cream which I really liked. I felt like it did help my problematic under eye area with smoothening out the lights I have. Just to let you guys know, in case you are having the same problems. My lines are formed due to dryness and my super bad habit of rubbing my eyes! So I do tend to slant towards products that will hydrate but not give me milla.
Génifique Yeux is a 360° contour transformation, it is an eye-illuminating serum with a unique rotating massaging applicator to helps in creating a more luminous eye area.
When Lancôme released Génifique Yeux I went out and got it almost as soon as it launched. However I won’t say I am totally in love this product.
It comes with a pretty unique little ball like applicator which you are to use directly on clean skin. The metal ball does feel quite nice when applied under the eye. However no matter how much I try to wipe away from the applicator, I still feel like there is quite abit of product and when they get into my eye, my eye just flares up in crazy rage!
To try to minimize ‘eye rage’ I will usually roll the applicator on my hand first, so I remove some product. I think the reason I don’t use it as much is that it is quite a process, plus after rolling the applicator under the eyes I’ll still have to pat in the product. I might try to use it in the night soon! I do remember it being a nice product but I might actually prefer the Génifique eye cream abit more
It’s just a clear really light product, Lancôme do recommend using an eye cream after as this is supposed to be an ‘eye serum’.
Oh & in case anyone was wondering why I do not have SPF for my day routine. I do!! It’s just that it’s my usual Clarins’s SPF hence did not include it in this post (:
Overall, I would recommend the super serum duo if you are looking to improve skin texture, brighten skin, reduce pore visibility and generally just to help your skin look and feel soft! I can’t really speak much on how it helps with wrinkles however it definitely did help in diminishing the looks of pore and skin texture. I just realized my serum is almost done and I am panicking abit! lol.
Woooo I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, I’ve been wanting to post some skin care reviews in ages, don’t know why I haven’t got around to doing so!
