Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover Review + Demo!

I’ve seen a few beauty bloggers & vloggers used this kind of remover, where you dip your finger in move it around slightly & tadah~ polish removed! I have not previously seen it in Sg, so I told mom to get it for me in aussie! However 2 days ago when I was at metro, I SAW IT, was super excited & called gf, asking if she wanted to get one too!

It retails for $17, but metro was having their 20% + 20% for members sale so I got it for about $11! Absolute bargain!

So the claims are that it removes polish at 1 second, per nail without cotton wool! Let’s put this to the test! Honestly, it’s a pretty nifty idea!

Bourjois 1 Second Remover

On the inside, there is a little hole for you to insert you finger in, but maybe having a few more holes would be helpful. lol!

For the sake of this experiment, I decided to use a few different kind of formulation polishes, just to get a better idea!

Thumb – Creme finish (Nicole by OPI – Keeping Up With Santa)
Index Finger – Glitter (China Glaze – Tinsel Town)
Middle Finger – Creme x Glitter (OPI – You’re sucha Budapest + polka.com)
Ring Finger – Holographic (A-England – Lady of the Lake)
Pinkie – Dark polish (OPI – Road House Blue)

Put your finger in & make sure you do a little wriggle in the bottle, if you just leave it as it is, the polish will still be on your nails. Some might be removed but there will still be remnants! I timed each finger! The fastest, which were the creme finishes, as expected took about 3-5 seconds. I was surprised the creme x glitter took just slightly more than 10 seconds & no surprise the glitter one took about 45 seconds.

In saying this I definitely did more than a wriggle to remove the polish, I “brush” my finger on the sponge so as to help it remover quicker, more so for the glitter polishes. For creme polishes, you actually can get away with just dipping your finger in, it will just take slightly longer as compared to if you wriggle it abit!

The biggest issue I have with this is that, it leaves all the glitter inside the bottle hence you can see from the picture that while I was removing the polish off my other fingers, they became glitter-fied from polka.com.lol. & this is only from 1 finger of glitter, imagine if it is all 10 fingers *shudders*

Overall nails are pretty clean (don’t mind the colour near the nail bed, was doing intensive swatching today) & polish was removed pretty well!

Since it contains almond oil, when you remove your finger you can definitely feel like there is a ‘layer’ of something on your fingers, which I slightly dislike. Washing your hands will remove that ‘layer’ so nothing much to worry about! Another thing is that when you open the bottle, the nail polish remove scent is really quite strong, stronger than if you were to use a cotton pad. It makes sense since the whole sponge is soaked with remover. However, it is awesome for travel being so compact & you will just need this to remove the polish!

First Haul of 2013 from Chanel Spring 2013 Collection! <3

Woooots, first haul of 2013 & yes I had to hit the Chanel counter, especially after I’ve seen the promo pictures & swatches from other bloggers! If you read my blog for some time, you would know I usually don’t rant but rant alert!!!!

So I usually get my high end makeup from Tangs, since I am able to get rebates there (money saved = more to spend for makeup.lol!). As usual Gf & I headed down to the Chanel counter to check out the new collection after which we told the MA we will look around, popped by Dior & Laura Mercier then headed back to Chanel. I decided that I wanted to try the illuminating powder before buying it, I mean I kinda knew 90% I would get it, unless it looked terrible on my face then of course I won’t get it.

When we first got to the counter the MA refused to serve us which fine because maybe she wanted to just let us browse. Finally after waiting, I decided to go ahead & ask her if she could try it on me & this is where I got super annoyed. She took a blusher brush & said to me ‘You try it yourself, I have to serve my customer.‘ Like woah, so now because you think I might not buy, I am not entitled to be your customer? Also her ‘customer’ was just browsing & didn’t appear to be needing her help too! Besides, she could have asked me if I could wait or ask her ‘customer’ if she could be excused for awhile. The fact that I asked if you could try it on me means I might not know how to use the product. If I want someone to just shove a brush in my face then I don’t think Chanel needs to hire MAs, it’s just a waste of their money.

This is a Chanel counter, I don’t feel such lousy service is to be tolerated. I would think that Chanel would have a more stringent selection process, but it seems like any Tom, Dick, Harry will get hired there. We decided to leave the counter because I am just not going to purchase from someone who is so rude & tackless, especially so when it is a high end departmental store. I refuse to pay $100 & allow her to earn the commission (if they still do) and would rather go to somewhere else, where I might not be able to get the rebates but I get great service & I feel happy walking out.

*RANT OVER* On to the awesome stuff ^^

My first haul of 2013! Chanel has an awesome Spring 2013 collection! Initially I went in to take a look at Poudre Signêe de Chanel the illuminating powder but of course I didn’t leave with just that. lol.

The pouch is really pretty & it has a band around the pouch so you won’t accidentally drop it out of the velvet case.

It has a pretty cool black plastic cover to protect your product, at the same time I was pretty paranoid that the plastic will scratch my product. LOL!

Poudre Signêe de Chanel comes with a super super adorable fat flat sponge thingy to apply the illuminating powder!

I’m warning you, I am going to be spamming some pictures of the illuminating because, wait do I even have to explain? It’s just soooooo GORGEOUS!

I wish I could buy 1 just to frame up & stare at it, yes I’m that obsessed. It feels SOOOOOO soft, the product is just sooo finely milled!

Le sigh, why are you so prettttyyyy!

Heavy & light swatch. It doesn’t leave you looking like a glitter ball because of how finely milled the product is!

Thought i might see if I can find any dupes in my collection! Swatched some of my favourite highlighting products & yes I think it’s different enough from the rest of my highlighting products to justify the purchase. Honestly I think I would even get it if it looked the same as anything I own, it’s so pretty just itself justifies the purchase! hehe!

I don’t know why I have never seen this in Chanel, HOW CAN I NOT HAVE!? It’s just a colour totally up my alley! It screams meeeeee & it is Chanel Tentation, which GF ended up getting too because I had her swatch it on her nails & she fell in love too. <3

Finally I grabbed Sweet Beige Glossimer!! This purchase is thanks to GF because she swatched it on me & it pushed me off the edge. I have been eye-ing it for awhile & finally got it!

So yes, my first haul of 2013 & I am pleased with myself if I may say so myself (: I also popped by The Body Shop to grab the LYCHEE gloss. Yes Lychee <3

What I Got For Christmas – Beauty Edition!

Hey girls!

So I know it’s January already (how fast right?) but I promised to do my what I got for Christmas, beauty edition! A little late but better late then never right? If you are the kind who don’t like haul or massive amount of new products mashed into a post, wait for my next post okay!

Quick overview of all the beauty products that I received from my awesome family & friends! They help feed my beauty obsession. Heh heh.

Woooooooots! I’ve actually not played around with all of them yet! Do let me know which products you would like to see a review of first okay!

Okayyyyy, let’s get on with all the individual products, shall we?

Philosopyyyyy! I think since philosophy hit our shores, I have been all over the brand! I am almost done with my shower gel, I swear they last forever & they foam up like no other, probably because it also doubles up as a bubble bath or if I may say triple up since it is also a shampoo!

Suga plum fairy & snow angel are both scents released just for the holiday season, so I was so glad I got it for Christmas! As for Snow Angel I have been eyeing it since I got a whiff of it & omg, love love love it! I wish I managed to snag the body wash when it was available but oh wells, gotta wait till the end of this year.

Mac crushed pigments! Wooooooooots! This year I was so sure I would buy something from the Mac holiday collection, but I didn’t. So getting these crushed pigment sets made me soooooooo excited! I tried Mac crushed pigments for the first time in 2012 & I LOVE THEM! They are much better than the normal pigments, they actually do feel very creamy. I know it’s a tad baffling how pigments can feel creamy, I don’t know how they do it but it really is!

I’ve not played with them yet, so I’m really excited to bust them out of the box!

What I got for Christmas Beauty Edition 201211-001

I realised that the darkest shade was only 1/2 full!? I wonder why

Love love love the colours & the pigmentation! Imagine it with a primer or used wet! Ooooh <3 I must say that this set is pretty unique, I’ve got a crush on you is a really pretty colour which looks different in different lighting hits it!

I really love love love Dusty Desire! I can’t wait to use them! Pretttyyyyy! Femininity looks stunning & so unique in the pot!

The next thing is EXTREMELY EXCITING!!!!! My first ever TOM FORD PRODUCT! *SCREAAAAMS*

The bestest GF got me this! I wanted to YSL holiday palette so much, but by the time we wanted to grab it, it was already SOLD OUT! Hence we walked around Tangs, feeling dejected! GF said I should swatch this TF shadow, honestly I feel TF blushers are just okay so I wasn’t that excited about swatching the shadows BUTTTTTT I think TF shadows are actually pretty awesome

I was tossing to & fro between this & another colour – which I can’t even remember which one. LOL!

Behold, my first ever Tom Ford product! Wooohooo! Don’t mind the photo-bomb. Hehe.

They don’t emboss the TF on the shadows! It’s actually embossed on the plastic placed on top of the product.

The shadows are really luxurious & they look so pretty! I love love the 2nd & 3rd colour the most! The picture doesn’t do it justice at all!!! I wore it out & momsie was complimenting my eye look!

Oh another thing reallyyyyy cool! The palette is able to open up fully & lay flat down!

Random brands thrown together, but I love them all.

I actually picked this up myself since i’ve been hearing so much raves about it, especially MissGlamorazzi! It is so so so prettyyy!!! When I went to pick it up, it was the LAST one! In fact the SA in Tangs told me that it’s all sold out! Refusing to believe I can’t find it, I went to Ion & managed to get it! YAY! BUT BUT BUT I dropped & it CHIPPED 2 days after I got it. >.<

My first ever YSL polish! Wooooots! It feels very watery when you look at it, but when applied it applies like a dream! First YSL polish and I’m definitely not going to stop at 1!

Picture from Instagram which I mention, the colour in real life is much much darker & deeper. Which honestly I am not a huge fan, but I’ll still use it & I still love it.

Nars Pure Matte in Carthage & Nars Lippie in CatFight!

Both of these are colours which I usually don’t gravitate towards! I have to wear CatFight slightly sheered out else I’ll look ghastly! Carthage looks like a really bright pink & it really is, but I love it! It is my first pure matte lippie & i LOVE it! It doesn’t even really feel drying at all!

Finally the last brand, Givenchy. Another first & I was pretty stoked!

First 2 products from Givenchy & I am eyeing the shadows too, I swatched them and it felt very luxurious & pigmented!

There are 4 different coloured powder, honestly I was attracted to the pastel coloured powder but but it was a tad to shimmery

I love the cover, & how the hole to dispense the powder are all ‘G’s.

The only time the sponge will look so gorgeous! It looks all messed up already.lol!

I was so enticed by the gloss too! #makeupjunkie Plus I love love the packaging! When you first apply the gloss, the brush head is super hard, which is probably how you can tell that no one has used it before! By the end of the first application it becomes soft just like how any lipgloss brush would feel like!

It’s actually just a clear gloss but it has coppery coloured shimmers in it so it’s really gorgeous! I much prefer how it looks in the tube to be honest and if it applied as the rich colours it appears to be, that would be stunning!

Hope this long entry was somewhat interesting, just sharing the beauty stuff I got for Christmas & I am sooooo excited to get to play with these new beauties! Will be aiming to do more tutorials (yes, tutorials!) & reviews on elizabeauty in 2013! :D

Inglot Freedom System Haul + Swatches!

This post is overdue! Just coz I had to retake all the swatches because the 1st set was just not acceptable to me at all! So afew weeks ago (like last year) I went to JB for Inglot a few weeks ago! Mom got them as Part I of my Christmas present!

& if you follow me on insta (elizabeauty), you would have already seen this picture! Sooo pretty, all the colours! I had a hard hard time deciding what to get!

This is not my first encounter with Inglot, I previously got their lip pot & gloss when I was living in Brissy! However at that time I was not into shadows at all! & now I’m just a tad too obsessed.

Our haul + some Christmas gifts for family too Heh!

The freedom system! Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t take pictures! I totally should have, it was actually quite cool! There were SO many shades of colours & they were all grouped into their respective colour family. You can just imagine how gorgeous it was! We were given a flat magnetic ‘tray’ where we place the shadows we wanted & they would get it for us!

They are all pretty reasonably priced, *i feel like slapping myself because I accidentally threw the receipt* but I think the shadows were about 30ishRM which is less than S$15 each & the empty palette was about that price too!

Okay one HUGE peeve is that they have the odd-est names for their shadows, they use numbers followed by the shadow finishing, i.e P for pearl, SHI for shine, R for Rainbow & I am not sure what DS is. lol!

This picture is gonna help me sooooo much in the long run, because the shadows are almost impossible to remove from the palette!

Like how everyone raves about Inglot, this is yet another rave review! Their shadows & sooooo buttery & soft to the touch!

Because I’m kinda OCD & did not like the idea of mixing my ‘normal’ & ‘rainbow shadows tog, I got this palette. LOL! But in the end I still ended up having a ‘normal’ shadow -.- which I plan on using as a highlight! All the rainbow shadows are matte & yes, you can fit your brush into each individual colour to use them

Still gotta keep it a tad safe with a brown & also a very gorgeous grey colour! <3

Peacock colour! LOL! I am always attracted to peacock colours & I have no idea why, just so pretty!

Momsie also got me this uber cool gloss! It reflects so many colours & on the lips it looks kinda 3D-ish!

Inglot Shadows1

I have been using my Inglot shadows & can I just add to the rave! They are sooo awesome! Cheaper than Mac & if I dare say, probably better than Mac!

NARS in Singapore finally + my haul!

So, I am a month late on this! My apology, I’ve been so caught up with soo many things! Anyway I was sooooo excited the moment I heard NARS was hitting our shores, but when I went to the counter in Tangs I was kinda underwhelmed. It might be due to my extensive makeup collection, lol or the fact that they don’t have a huge array of colours *think mac, urban decay*. I really wanted to get a blusher but nothing really caught my fancy! To be honest NARS does have a pretty small colour range, especially so for their lippies I feel!

Anyway enough blabbering! I finally decided I wanted to get something & settled for 2 nail polishes since I’ve never had any polishes from NARS & I love them!!!

I got 1 from the Andy Warhol collection! Gotta love the packaging!

The 2 polishes I picked up! New York Dolls (NARS x Andy Warhol) & Schiap (which is also one of the most popular colours!)

Eye candy! *woooots* I really like how the NARS word is printed on the bottle!

Application wise, it is very very smooth and applies with ease. It also dries really quickly too!

Schiap on my nails with 2 coats! So gorgeous!! Totally my kinda colour! <3

Price wise NARS polishes retails for $30, I was kinda expecting that price range after all NARS has always been more on the high end side!

Nail Outfit: Essence Where’s The Party!

I wore this some time ago but never got to post it! Finally getting a chance to post it up! Yay!

I’m sure all of you have heard/tried Essence from Watsons! The polishes are only $2.80 & they are pretty awesome too! I’ve tried a few other stuff from their line which I do not really fancy but their polishes deserve 2 thumbs up! Good formulation, check! Good brush, check! Good colour selection, Not too bad too! Plus I really like how to bottles are pretty small! Afterall with my extensive collection, I doubt I’ll be able to ever finish any of my polishes! lol.

Here’s featuring Essence Where’s The Party! I was eyeing this colour since I went out with Ariel & she bought the last one! Ever since I have been on the hunt & finally got my hands on it! Yay!

I like how it looks like there are 2 colours, purple and a dark greenish metallic sliver!! <3 Pretty!

Applies so nicely with 2 coats!

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Polish Event + Swatches!

About 2 weeks ago I was invited to an event held by Sally Hansen which I was so excited about! I’ve never attended a nail event to date & being a nail junkie, of course I said yes!

We were greeted with this candy bar, how adorable is this! ^^

My little candy baggy which I was so pleased with, coincidentally I went for a movie the next day & enjoyed my little candy baggy! <3

All the goodies which were on our table! I actually have the cuticle gel remover but I’ve not used it! Shall try to start using it soon!

Bling bling colours! I really liked the colour on the bottom! So pretty!

I happened to use theses 3 colours for my nail art competition which we had that night!

Heart to heart was opaque in just 1 coat! I still did 2 coats though

I love love love this colour, in fact I choose it as one of my nail art colours during the session!

Essie Nail Polish Collection + Swatches!

I posted this on instagram, which sparked so many different speculations! I wish it was Summer 2012 collection like one of my followers said!

It is my Essie Collection! I was texting my friend Katie, we were talking about Essie polishes then she told me, you should do an Essie collection post! I was like yes, I should! So here it is, it was quite a lot of work, extracting all my Essie and took like a million pictures. My current nail sticks are not as good as the nail wheel

I do not have a super extensive collection, but I think it’s of a decent size, where I love all of them!

All my coloured Essies! <3 <3 So gorgeous! I love to see my polishes arranged in this manner! & I realized I do not have any purple Essie! How can? Purple (favourite colour) + Essie (a brand I really really love!) = I need to get a Purple Essie polish soon!

I really like Essie polishes, I think I really got hooked onto Essie polishes during my trip to HK where I bagged home quite a few of them! I love their formulation, brush & they do wear pretty well! On average about 3-4 days without chipping!

I love their collection colours too! They always have really nice colour to fit the season!
